Upper East Side, NY - GRANT engineering was hired to evaluate the operation of seven air-conditioning units of a Banana Republic retail store on the east side of midtown Manhattan. The store was being renovated and the units needed to be inspected to determine if they needed to be serviced, upgraded or replaced. GRANT found that all but one of the units was in very good working order.
GRANT recommended that with proper maintenance and upkeep the units in good condition could perform properly for up to 15 years. For the unit in poor condition, it was recommended that further investigation was needed to determine if the unit could be repaired or should be replaced. The client retained GRANT engineering for this second phase of the inspection. Recommendations for the unit included refrigerant leak repair, proper containment and disposal of refrigerant, and other mechanical and operational systems upgrades.
